Privacy Policy
Last updated: January 2, 2026
The Short Version: Theme Park Compass helps you navigate Walt Disney World transportation. We collect anonymous timing data to improve our estimates for everyone. We don't know who you are, we can't identify you, and we don't sell your data.
What We Collect
Information You Provide
- My Resort Selection — If you set a "home resort" in Settings, we store this on your device only. It never leaves your phone.
- Recent Destinations — Your recently selected locations are stored on your device only to make the app faster to use. This data never leaves your phone.
Information Collected Automatically
When you complete a journey with "Help Improve Estimates" enabled (the default), we collect:
- Route timing data — How long each segment of your journey took (e.g., "monorail from TTC to Magic Kingdom took 5 minutes")
- Time of day — Morning, midday, evening, etc.
- Day of week — Monday through Sunday
- Weather conditions — Temperature and conditions at time of travel
- Transport modes used — Bus, monorail, Skyliner, boat, or walking
What We Do NOT Collect
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your phone number
- Your device ID
- Your Apple ID or Google account
- Your location (GPS)
- Any identifier that could identify you personally
We cannot identify individual users. Each timing data point is completely anonymous and independent. We don't track users across sessions. Session IDs exist only in your phone's memory and are erased when you close the app.
How We Use Your Data
To Improve Time Estimates
We aggregate anonymous timing data from all users to make our transportation time estimates more accurate. For example, if hundreds of users report that the bus from Pop Century to Hollywood Studios takes 18 minutes during morning rush (not the 15 minutes we estimated), we update our estimates.
Analytics
We use Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used in aggregate (e.g., "60% of users select Magic Kingdom as their destination"). This helps us improve the app. Firebase Analytics does not collect personally identifiable information in our implementation.
How We Share Your Data
We Don't Sell Your Data
We do not sell personal information because we don't collect personal information.
Aggregate Data
We may share aggregated, anonymous timing data with:
- Transportation operators — To help them understand ridership patterns and improve service
- Research partners — For academic or industry research on theme park transportation
This data cannot identify individuals. It looks like: "Average bus wait time at Animal Kingdom during park close: 12 minutes."
Legal Requirements
We may disclose information if required by law, though since we don't collect identifying information, there's very little we could provide.
Your Choices
Opt Out of Data Collection
You can disable "Help Improve Estimates" in Settings at any time. When disabled, we collect no timing data from your journeys.
Clear Your History
You can clear your recent destinations and starting locations in Settings. This removes the data from your device.
Data Storage and Security
- On-device data (My Resort, recent locations) is stored using your device's secure storage.
- Anonymous timing data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore) with encryption in transit and at rest.
- We retain aggregate timing data indefinitely to maintain accurate estimates.
Children's Privacy
Theme Park Compass is a general audience app. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Since we don't collect personal information, COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) compliance is straightforward — there's nothing to protect.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last Updated" date and, for material changes, through an in-app notice.
